Interest Writing

Interest writing blog photo

Usually when you think about writing activities for children, it more than likely originates from writing prompts or a critical thinking or opinion response to a literature piece. My daughter, a 2nd grader, has a high interest for cooking. Her favorite show is Cupcake Wars, of course.

I decided to give her a writing project related to cooking. She looked up a recipe for cupcakes! She wrote the ingredients, and directions. My girl took her time too! I’ve recognized that if it’s something that she’s really interested in, she stays engaged, as expected. Her recipe is something she can share, and happily put to use!

Interest writing is definitely a success in our home! My son is into writing movie scripts, and he’s become quite the little expert at it. Give it a go with your child, and please do share your outcome!
